A prototype of the upcoming 2019 Ford Focus has been spotted while undergoing tests in Europe. The hatchback seems to be quite larger than the current model which went through a major mid-cycle redesign back in 2011. The vehicle represents the third generation of Focus model. Currently, the car is built at the Ford’s Michigan Assembly plant, Wayne. However, the production of the 2019 model is expected to kick off at the company’s Assembly facility located in Hermosillo, Mexico. This is part of Ford’s plan of moving its small car production away from the U.S soil.
2019 Ford Focus – Exterior and Interior
The new Focus is likely going to retain its current structure. However, it will be tweaked a bit to reduce the weight and improves on the stiffness. With that, you should expect the chassis to be built from a combination of high-strength steel and lightweight aluminum. The aluminum designing gives it better fuel economy while the high strength gives it the stiffness that keeps it up with the tougher global crash standards. Just like the current model, the 2019 Ford Focus presents a pretty rigid body with excellent suspension tuning. Get ready for a more elegant and cleaner shape with less clustered front fascia. The front end gets LED headlights and fog lights. A new front bumper and grille will also be offered. The rear end comes with horizontal LED taillights and sporty exhaust pipe.
It is definitely not easy to tell the interior styling for the 2019 Ford Focus at this time. We are however anticipating for a simple but more stylish cabin than before. Even though the vehicle is not much bigger externally, it offers enhanced passenger space inside with sufficient headroom and legroom. The dashboard will be upgraded with a more prominent touchscreen display. Among the standard interior features include a premium air conditioner, automatic climate control, satellite navigation system, smartphone integration and others. Its entertainment segment comes classier with a quality sound system with satellite radio, USB port interface, Bluetooth audio connectivity and CD/MP3/MP4 player. Ford has left no stone un-turned when it comes to driver assistance and features. The car should feature automatic emergency braking system, rear parking sensors, premium safety belts and airbags, blind spot monitoring system, lane-departure warning system, adaptive cruise control and others.
2019 Ford Focus – Engine Rumors and Performance
The current Ford Focus is offered with two engine options; a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder drivetrain and 1.0 liter 3-cylinder Ecoboost with 160 horsepower and 123 horsepower respectively. Probably, the automaker is thinking of carrying the over to the next model. There are rumors going around that Ford is going to introduce an all-new 2.3-liter and 2.0-liter petrol and diesel engines in various power outputs. We are expecting the 2019 Ford Focus to feature either 6-speed manual/automatic transmission or 10-speed dual-clutch transmission system.
2019 Ford Focus – Expected Release Date and Price
It is too early to predict the pricing and the release date for the new Ford Focus. The consumers are however optimistic that it will make its entry towards the end of next year or at the beginning of 2019. While the base MSRP is approximated at about $18,000.
