The 2019 Ford Ranger has been spotted undergoing testing at Michigan near the company’s headquarters. Despite the heavy camouflage worn by the test mule, you can easily notice from the spy shots that the vehicle looks like the current Ranger variant that is selling in Australia and Europe. However, the car is expected to ride on a mildly revised platform which is being developed at Ford’s Australian plant. The 2019 Ford Ranger is going to mark the return of this mid-size pickup. Although its production is taking place at Ford’s Australian plant, the body frame has been customized for the U.S market of which it has been designated for.
2019 Ford Ranger – Exterior Body and Interior
It is definitely too early to tell what Ford is planning for us as far as the exterior body is concerned. The reliable rumor sources, however, indicate that the new pickup truck will be offered in two versions, the crew cab and super cab. The crew cab version comes as a family pickup while the super cab is offered a work truck. There is also a possibility of Ford producing an off-road version which will compete against Colorado ZR2.
The automaker is going to adopt a combination of lightweight aluminum and high-strength steel for the 2019 Ford Ranger. There are chances that the manufacturer will give the new Ranger a scaled-down version of F-150’s front and rear ends. The side stamping will also remain unchanged. LED technology will be used for the headlights, fog lights as well as the rear lights. Of course, it will ride on massive aluminum alloy wheels just like its predecessor.
Getting inside the 2019 Ford Ranger, you will enjoy a comfortable and luxurious ride. Thanks to the modern infotainment features added plus a combination of fine leather material upholstering for the seats, steering wheel and some sections of the dashboard. The Ranger should offer a more premium feel with standard features like 3-zone automatic climate control, satellite navigation system, smartphone integration, upgraded air conditioner and others. The entertainment sector features a premium sound system with Bluetooth audio integration, CD/MP3/MP4 player, USB ports and HD satellite radio.
2019 Ford Ranger – Turbocharged Engine and Transmission
The Ford is yet to release the official information regarding the pickups’ Power plant. For now, we are anticipating that the standard drivetrain that will be offered is a 2.3-liter turbocharged inline-4 engine. The premium or sports models will be powered by either 2.7-liter or 3.5-liter naturally aspirated V6 petrol units. Other rumors had it that the new model could also feature a 3.2-liter inline five currently used in the transit van or the 3.0-liter diesel variant that is headed for the new 2018 F-150. The transmission will include six-speed or Ford’s 10-speed manual or automatic system.
